Once again, rhinoplasty (commonly known as nose surgery, nose reshaping, or a “nose job”) is among the top five plastic surgery procedures performed in the United States. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), over 100,000 rhinoplasty procedures were performed in 2010 alone.
Reasons for Nose Surgery
For people who are unhappy with the size and/or shape of their nose, rhinoplasty may be a welcome solution. Because the nose is such a prominent facial feature, altering its size and/or shape can have a remarkable impact on one’s appearance. Some of the most common features that patients aim to change by undergoing rhinoplasty include:
Nose size, for better proportion to other facial structures
- Nose width, specifically at the bridge
- The profile (humps or depressions on the bridge of the nose)
- A large, bulbous, drooping, or upturned nasal tip
- Nostrils that are large, wide, or upturned
- Nasal asymmetry and deviation (which can affect breathing functions)
When performed correctly by a board certified plastic surgeon, rhinoplasty can improve the balance of facial features and lead to significant enhancement in appearance. Men, women, and even teens can benefit from the dramatic, yet natural-looking changes that transpire from rhinoplasty. These subtle changes can go a long way, and many people find that others are unable to tell they had surgery.
Are you a rhinoplasty candidate?
Rhinoplasty may be a good option for you if you are:
- At least 13 years of age and have completed facial development
- Physically and emotionally healthy
- A non-smoker (or quit at least two weeks before and two weeks after)
- Realistic with your expectations for surgery results

Recently, there has been an increased interest in buttock enhancement surgery even with the general confusion as to how more volume can be achieved in the backside. Butt augmentation via fat transfer and butt implant surgery are the most commonly performed methods for enhancing the buttocks. While one technique may be suitable for one patient, it doesn’t mean that the same procedure will be appropriate for another.
Typically, patients who have a slender body shape with little to no fat to spare are ideal candidates for butt implants, which are made of a semi-solid silicone and are carefully placed either above or beneath the gluteal muscle. The incisions for this procedure are typically made down the buttock crease or where the cheek meets the back of the thigh. Scarring from either location is minimal. In addition, liposuction can be performed around the waist and thigh area to provide a more sculpted appearance.
Alternatively, patients with excess fat in other areas of the body can have it removed via liposuction, which will be harvested prior to being injected in the buttocks. Once the fat has been prepared and placed in a syringe, it is skillfully injected into the buttock area that needs the additional volume. This procedure leaves only minimal scars in the areas where liposuction is performed.
If you would like further information regarding your options with butt enhancement surgery, please schedule an appointment at my practice. We can discuss both techniques and determine the most appropriate one for you.

Signs of aging are inevitable – wrinkles, creases, pigmentation changes, and sun spots are bound to show up at some point. This is why many individuals often turn to non-surgical facial rejuvenating treatments, such as Botox®. However, these days, there is a much younger age group seeking this injectable treatment. Teenagers prepping for their prom are adding a trip to their local plastic surgeon for this facial injectable.
A recent report from Phoenix, Arizona tells of high school senior girls who say they want to look their best on the special night. One student states: “It’s your one night, you know, you want to look the best, have a great time. Twenty years from now, you want to look back and think, I looked great that night.” In addition to undergoing Botox injections in her forehead, this patient also received Botox injections in her underarms to prevent excess sweating. Although this is a non-surgical treatment, it does bring into light the public’s fear of growing older at such a young age. No longer are patients waiting until their late 20s or early 30s to have these procedures done.
It is my intent that every patient who is interested in this procedure understand that this is a temporary solution to the natural course of aging. Botox can help diminish the signs of aging, but not stop them completely. If you would like further information regarding Botox injections, please feel free to visit my website and schedule a consultation.
