Botox: Not Just for Wrinkles

Most people have heard about Botox® and what it is capable of. This injectable is designed to help reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles and creases. It can also help create a mild brow lift and open up the eye area for a more refreshed look. Botox can also treat certain medical problems, including migraines and excessive sweating (“hyperhidrosis”). The same way that Botox temporarily blocks the nerves that cause muscle contractions, it can prevent migraine headaches from occurring for up to six months.

Patients who have received Botox injections to help treat migraines are very often satisfied with the results – less occurrences and/or severity. Furthermore, other symptoms associated with these types of headaches are also reduced, including nausea and light sensitivity. This is an excellent alternative for those who have tried other medications without successful results. As for controlling excessive armpit sweating; when properly administered, the injections can prevent the sweat glands from perspiring. Patients who have exhausted other means to control sweating have found Botox to provide the results they desire.
